![]() Balboa Park’s Committee of 100 which is “Dedicated to the Preservation of Spanish Colonial Architecture in Balboa Park” held a dedication ceremony today for the West Arcade Reconstruction along El Prado. The original arcade was part of the Science and Education Building, one of the many wonderful structures built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. It was destroyed in the 1960s. Participating in Wednesday morning’s ribbon cutting were: Ted Medina, Director of Park & Rec; Ellen Oppenheim, Deputy City Manager; State Senator Christine Kehoe; Pat DeMarce, President of Commitee of 100; Deputy Mayor Toni Atkins and Mayor-elect Jerry Sanders. Enjoy a stroll through this magnificent addition to the heart of the park during this weekend’s December Nights. |

choose?
“I wish Bush would be (coherent, eschewed) for once during a speech, but there are theories that his everyday diction charms the below-average mind, hence insuring him Republican votes.” Robin Williams’ peace plan — Truth or fiction? |

![]() Another day, another car crash
in Hillcrest.
This morning’s accident
at the intersection of Sixth and Robinson occurred when the brakes failed on a woman’s vehicle as she was southbound on Sixth Avenue heading to Rite Aid (in need of a new hearing aid battery). No one was injured as she smashed into the silver vehicle stopped ahead of her at the light. The man driving the car (at the right) ended up being sandwiched between her car and a truck ahead of him which fortunately sustained no damage. |

![]() Saturday
night 12:30am, a black Mercedes SLK crashed into the north post that
holds the Hillcrest sign. Local
residents, Cathy and Grace, heard the crash and called 911. “A man
drove his car right into the post, then it began to leak fluids. He
remained in
his
car and attempted to leave the scene while the vehicle’s interior
filled with smoke. After ten minutes, he was able to start the car and
drove westbound before two SDPD officers arrived to examine
the debris and damage.” |

![]() Baily is back in her loving home! The cute Yorkshire Terrier puppy that escaped from a car parked in the Uptown District about a month ago has been returned to her grateful mom, Kim. We’re sure you saw the lost dog posters all over the neighborhood...and wanted to let you know that she’s safely home for the holidays! An unknown woman claimed Baily as hers and left the area with Kim’s baby. Two days later Baily was sold to a man in National City who gave the puppy to his girlfriend, Priscilla who (luckily) was watching a segment on the dognapping on KUSI News last week and called Kim. The two met outside a Mission Valley store, and the rest is history. Could a spot on Oprah now be in their future? |
