Sue Palmer Trio at Nordstroms

Our favorite piano player and friends brought back memories of the Nat King Cole Trio as they filled Horton Plaza’s Nordstrom with their tunes Saturday afternoon. Steve Wilcox on guitar and Pete Harrison on stand up bass joined boogie woogie queen of the keys,
Sue Palmer as they entertained last minute shoppers looking for the perfect Easter bonnet.

Henry's moms at the zoo, April 14, 2006 Henry goes to the zoo
Henry, the remarkable three-legged cat sent his moms (and her friends) to the San Diego Zoo to autograph his books for you. Dr. Donna Brooks and Cathy Conheim visited with Henry’s fans. Henry is working on a new book for children that will be available before the holidays. If you haven’t seen it yet, click on Henry’s link above and watch his movie or slideshow.

• Thank goodness for Henry... who reminds us that we are defined not by our misfortunes, but by our responses to them.

• Henry shows us that hatred is often learned & born of ignorance & how easy it is to hate what we don’t understand.
• Through his gentle example, he demonstrates the compelling nature of vulnerability & power of the two most powerful words in our language: “Help Me.”

Immigration March, April 9, 2006
50,000 March from Balboa Park to the Bay

A sea of white shirt-clad demonstrators marched through the heart of San Diego today in one of the largest protests in city history. 350-500K marched in Dallas. (Rally in St Louis, too).

The message was clear... “Today we march, tomorrow we vote” and “Si, se puede! (yes, we can!)” was chanted while the white wave of walkers made its way from a morning rally at City College to the gathering spot at Kalmia and Laurel in the park before marching to the County Administration Center at the harbor (and back!). The March for Dignity, Respect and Hope had been planned for two weeks by a broad coalition of Latino community groups, religious leaders, students and their friends.
