SD RodeoBoots n Briefs at Kickers

YeeeHaa...Time to head to Lakeside!

It’s gonna be a beautiful weekend for the Greater San Diego Chapter of the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association to hold their events at the Lakeside Rodeo grounds. The fun began last night as Kickers was packed for the Boots ’n Briefs auction. Empress Ophelia did a fabulous job as the mistress of ceremonies! The little black number at the left went for $750! This year’s rodeo will benefit Lakeside youth groups and the Hillcrest History Guild. See you there!

Today’s feature story in the local section of the U-T.

University Avenue Sidewalk Project Dedication
Community leaders met in front of CoHabitat (at 1433 University) this afternoon to officially open the two blocks of new sidewalks, streetlamps and pop-outs constructed between Vermont and Herbert. Carol Schultz with the Uptown Partnership, City Councilmember Toni Atkins and the Hillcrest Business Association’s Warren Simon celebrated the completion of the $472,780 project. This was phase two of a $1.6-million master plan for University Avenue. The final phase, the Normal Street median project, is next on the list.

Earthfair 2006

The 17th annual EarthFair was held yesterday in Balboa Park.
Here’s a slideshow of some of our favorite photos. The free environmental fair drew over 60,000 globally thinking San Diegans who enjoyed a beautiful spring day in the park. 200+ educational booths shared their info while musicians and political activists joined several environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. Flexcar was there with a sweet deal to join them for FREE! Maybe it’s time to shift your thinking...go to Flexcar’s website and look for the “Spring Fling Special” to $ave $75 on your first year’s membership fees. Don’t wait — this deal ends April 30th. (Be sure to enter “Spring2” into the Promo Code field when you apply.)
