Trey Johnson (right)
was part of the appreciative crowd at tonight’s
“Always...
Patsy Cline” opening at the spacious new Palm Springs Pavillion.
Trey’s mom is Julie Johnson whose voice mirrors country music’s
greatest star. Sally Struthers plays Patsy’s biggest fan in this lively
musical based on a true story. It runs through July 3, and is
definitely worth a drive to the desert (even in the heat of summer!)
Mayor
Jerry Sanders and Councilmember Toni Atkins spoke before an interested
crowd this morning at The Center’s popular monthly
community breakfast forum.

More than 65 million Americans volunteered last year, but the participation rate has remained flat since 2002 and participation varies widely by state (26.1% of Californians pitch in to help), region and ethnic group. This coming Sunday you can volunteer to help our broke city (and Hillcrest) by pushing a broom for a couple of hours. We’ll even give you cookies and coffee at 9:45...and other stuff, too. Hope to see you at the next Clean T.E.A.M. gathering. |

A good crowd filled most of Fifth Avenue from Pennsylvania to Robinson on a beautiful Sunday in the neighborhood. |

“The fact of the matter is that it tells a
story, and without the plaque, you basically have a grave marker that
is left here and doesn’t explain too much about this extraordinary
individual. It’s a desecration of his grave site.” —
David Lugo, Mt Hope Cemetery re: Silas St John gravestone plaque
