It’s gonna be a great weekend to party! On Sunday, July 9th Seventh Avenue between Robinson and Pennsylvania will be buzzin’ with the 4th annual Hop in the ’hood. Live music from great performers, a mini-Rose Bowl parade, homemade ice cream, cake and a thank you BBQ for the Hillcrest Clean T.E.A.M. All HillQuest fans are invited! Bring folding chairs and frisbees! The inaugural Flower Power parade will kick off at 11am. Pack up the family, bring some folding chairs and a picnic for a fun day of San Diego’s best music on this closed block just south of Whole Foods Market. All bicyclists, street performers, chalkers, dancers, karaoke singers and jugglers welcome. |

performed at Humphrey’s on the Bay last night...kayakers and lucky
duckies in boats enjoyed her show for free. The Indigo Girls will take
the stage tonight. Closer to home... University Heights will kick
off their free summer concert series at Trolley Barn Park along Adams Avenue
just east of Park Boulevard. Excellente! Take a picnic.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War held the ceremony on GAR Hill. Stuart McConnell, professor of history at Pitzer College, was the keynote speaker. Before the Flag Man left for seven more events today (he’s attended over 34,000) the octogenarian posed with housing commissioner Todd Gloria and Mount Hope’s manager David Lugo. |

yesterday’s Hillcrest
Clean T.E.A.M. effort. Joe who owns The Service Center helped by
sweeping in front of his storefront at 3870 Fifth Avenue. HBA’s Warren
Simon (left) and Nancy Moors also donated two hours to the community
cleanup. The bi-monthly volunteers removed dozens of bags of trash from
Hillcrest streets.
If you would like to help out, the next cleanup will be Sunday, July 16th. |
