peace in 2007

The Greatest Gifts for 2007...
May we break boundaries, tear down walls and build on the foundation of goodness inside each of us. May we look past differences, gain understanding and embrace acceptance. May we reach out to each other, rather than resist. May we be better stewards of the earth, protecting, nurturing and replenishing the beauties of nature. May we practice gratitude for all we have, rather than complain about our needs. May we seek cures for the sick, help for the hungry and love for the lonely. May we share our talents, give our time and teach our children. May we hold hope for the future very tenderly in our hearts and do all we can to build for bright tomorrows. And may we love with our whole hearts, for that is the only way to love.

“Rumsfeld and Cheney and the president made a big mistake in justifying going into the war in Iraq. They put the emphasis on weapons of mass destruction...I’ve never publicly said I thought they made a mistake, but I felt very strongly it was an error in how they should justify what they were going to do.”

Band setup at the Holiday Bowl parade
2006 Holiday Bowl balloons

Did you go to the Holiday Bowl Parade?

America’s Largest Balloon Parade with the theme “It’s a Wacky World” stepped off along San Diego’s Embarcadero yesterday morning for the 2006 Holiday Bowl parade. Our favorite  chicken (Ted Giannoulas) was honored as this year’s Grand Marshal. 32 giant balloon characters entertained over 100,000 kids of all ages. Last night the Q set the stage for the big football game with the Texas A&M Aggies losing to the California Golden Bears 45-10.

Balboa Park from above

An after-Christmas gift for one & all...

Tuesdays in Balboa Park
We’re lucky to have this fabulous park for our big backyard! And as a bonus several museums have no admission each Tuesday (on a rotating schedule throughout Balboa Park). This Tuesday enjoy the Aerospace and the Auto museums, Hall of Champions and International Cottages. Thanks to ball bearings, the admission to the Timken Museum of Art is always a gift — it’s free all the time! It’s also Tues Nite Out in Hillcrest as merchants (mostly restaurants) offer discounts on great stuff...check out Lalo’s yummy $1.25 fish tacos.
