2004 Pride logo Cindy Uybungco of Curb Grafix has created the winning logo for this summer’s 30th anniversary of LGBT Pride.

The design was made with a Chinese brush to achieve a “non-technical, positive look that illustrates the community moving forward,” she notes “and I incorporated a small rising sun into the text as a finishing touch.”

The entire community is invited to a kick-off reception for this year’s Pride on Wednesday, March 3 in The Center’s auditorium. Refreshments, snacks and birthday cake will be served. Guests may also offer name suggestions for 2004 award recipients, inquire about volunteer opportunities or get 411 on various other ways to be involved this year.

For more information call (619) 297-7683 or visit their website.

There’s a new look in Hillcrest...

Our Jack in the Box will reopen in about six weeks. Jack also says he’s building a new menu to go with the state of the art remodel. We shall see. It is even rumored to include a fireplace. Maybe he’s sprucing up early for the 30th anniversary of Gay Pride!

The real State of the Union: a US with its population sharply divided over foreign policy, free-trade, church-and-state relations and personal freedom vs the Anti-Terrorist restrictions; increasing poverty with its rising crime and drug use eroding our inner-cities and 43 million Americans without health coverage; a deeper divide between the very rich and a middle class whose standard of living has been falling since1972; five million children just surviving below the poverty level; three million jobs lost since Bush took office and middle-level (as well as assembly-line positions) fast disappearing overseas. (but GW forgot to mention this stuff...oops)
