Official San Diego LGBT Pride Souvenir Program

2007’s Pride parade/festival will be held July 21-22nd, one week earlier than previous years...and the official program will hit the streets June 18th packed with information & goodies. Circulation on the full color, glossy program will double to 40,000 copies, but retain last year’s rates. (deadline is Monday, May 14). Ad Ink Advertising Agency, the home of HillQuest is coordinating ad sales. “We are excited to work with Pride again this year,” said Nancy Moors. “2007 will double the distribution, but keep 2006 ad rates. This is a great value for businesses wanting to outreach to the LGBT community.” Distribution will include 16,000 copies delivered throughout San Diego and the festival; 8,000 in Long Beach; 10,000 in Los Angeles; 5,000 in Palm Springs; and 500 copies in Las Vegas and Phoenix. Businesses and organizations are also reminded that unlike any other local Pride program, the net proceeds from this book are returned to the community in the form of contributions and grants. To be a part of this win-win publication call Nancy Moors at (619) 260-1929.

“I think people do not appreciate it when someone tries to hold them to their word, unless you’ve got big-ass bucks you’re spending with said person. The industry is filled with flakes and hooligans and sharks. It all comes down to what Dear Mr. Penishead said — ‘This industry isn’t about music, it has nothing to do with music. It has to do with money.’”

Hillcrest gas prices, April 25, 2007

Gallon of Gas Rises Another 4¢ in Hillcrest
The 76 ConocoPhillips gas station at the corner of Sixth and Robinson upped their prices again yesterday morning. How are the high prices affecting you (besides making a bigger dent GEM carin your wallet)? Are you walking or using a bike more? Car pooling? Has anyone started taking public transportation? How much does a gallon of gas need to reach before you’ll change your habits? To get around on surface streets HillQuest has two NEVs (neighborhood electric vehicles with over 5,000 miles on their combined odometers). We love our little GEMcars.

Eat Up, Dine Out and Make a Difference

City Councilmembers Kevin Faulconer, Toni Atkins and Center chair Todd Gloria thanked the Crest Cafe’s Cecelia Moreno for her participation and urged the city to support this worthly fundraiser. Today (Thursday, April 26) dozens of local eateries have pledged 25% of their day’s food and liquor sales to benefit The Center’s HIV/AIDS prevention programs for Youth & Latinos and direct services for those living with HIV/AIDS.

April 22, 2007 Hillcrest Cleanup

From a volunteer
...

“Whenever Hillcrest has a cleanup I look forward to being there. For me, it’s a great way to spend a Sunday morning, being outdoors, with like-minded friendly people cleaning the streets that I walk and call home. Last Sunday, many people stopped to thank our team, and it was a good feeling to know that what we were doing was making a difference, and they noticed and appreciated our effort.
This is the best volunteer group I have been with. Ben Cartright makes a good team leader. I enjoyed working with him, but kudos to everyone for all your hard work! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your TEAM.”

“City Attorney Michael Aguirre is nobody’s lapdog. As the elected City Attorney, he fearlessly protects the interests of San Diegans, at times to the consternation of elected officials or their staff. It is fair to say that during his tenure his efforts to resolve the thorny issues facing the City of San Diego have ruffled more than a few feathers.”
