Hillcrest Centennial Game Night

Everyone was a Winner
This evening the community enjoyed an air conditioned Joyce Beers Community Center for Hillcrest Centennial Game Night. Realtor Tony Azar hosted a blackjack table with gift certificates to Crest Cafe and Corvette Diner won by Andrew Towne, John Semerau, Steve Berkowitz and Mary Robinson. Frozen Yog-art treats with fresh fruit, brownies & cookies from SD Party Express and Chiptole burritos were served. A fun, casual evening was enjoyed by all.

Ice Cream social at Mission Hills Library

The communities of Mission Hills and Hillcrest celebrated their neighborly bonds at an ice cream block party courtesy of Dreyer’s Ice Cream yesterday from 10:30am-12:30pm. Neighbor Carol Moseley (in the green top and topper with the two clowns at the right) was among 1,500 winners nationally who wrote to Dreyer’s to tell why her neighborhood deserved a Slow Churned Neighborhood Salute.

Thanks, Carol!!

Nicole Murray Ramirez & big Mike at protest for Pete Wilson statue at Horton Plaza, Saturday, August 25, 2007

Latinos & Gay Community Protest

A statue of Pete Wilson was unveiled Saturday afternoon at Horton Square as hundreds of demonstrators voiced their opposition to the former San Diego mayor (1971-1983). Activists say downtown’s Walk of Fame will now become the city’s Walk of Shame.
(There’s Nicole and Big Mike!) >
Politicos in attendance for the celebration were in fine form. Another former San Diego mayor, now right-wing radio talk show host Roger Hedgecock gave the one finger salute to the protesters, and honoree Pete Wilson called the demonstrators horses asses!
