Congratulations, Maureen and Aida!
Local activists Maureen Steiner and Aida Mancillas beamed with pride during this morning’s community breakfast at the Center. The newlyweds are part of the historic flood of lesbian and gay couples who are flocking to to San Francisco City Hall in search of equal rights to make their relationships “legal.”

The City of Joy: “Infectious, unadulterated joy, sparked by this unprecedented five-day run of gay-marriage ceremonies that was part civil disobedience, part political statement, part Woodstock Nation.”

BluHillcrest resident dies

Blu was born on April 1, 1989. On that day Chuck and Pat MacLaggan received the gift of unconditional love each and every day for the next fourteen and a half years. Blu loved “adventures” and was a wonderful companion who traveled throughout the United States and Mexico on many extended trips. For the last six years Blu lived here in Hillcrest. He loved to walk the neighborhood whenever he got a chance — which turned out to be several times a day. Aging required the addition of dog slippers the last few years, and Blu made many new neighborhood friends who were curious about his shoes. On October 28 Blu joined his predecessors, Lloyd and Toby. Rest in peace, Blu. We miss you!

Be on the lookout for Chuck’s new walking buddy, Chase.

Vincente FoxThis hot new set of playing cards ($20 value for only $9.95 which will surely be a collector’s item and help GOPs reclaim the White House) “depicts the enemies of America and Iraq’s liberation in a satirical way while revealing the evidence of their hatred, their own quotes against America!” The Deck of Weasels include Michael Moore, Tim Robbins, Jacques Chirac, Barbra Streisand, Teddy Kennedy, Kofi Annan and many more. (Should be 52 or maybe they’re not playing with a full deck). A lot of work has gone into this little project to show each “enemy” wearing the beret of Saddam’s Republican Guard. Three of the baddies: >>> 5 of clubs:I have not changed my mind one iota. We should not be in Iraq without United Nations support.Walter Cronkite   >> 10 of hearts: Cloaked in patriotism and our doctrine of spreading democracy throughout the world, our fundamentalism is business, the unfettered spread of our economic interests throughout the globe. Our resistance to this war should be our resistance to profit at the cost of human life.Susan Sarandon >>> Queen of clubs:So, they haven’t been able to confirm reports he [Saddam] was taken to Tikrit, and then Mosul, and then hopefully to Syria.Katie Couric

Here’s the deck the liberals use.

“What we are sure of is that we have a commander in chief
(aka the Texas Soufflé) who plays soldier with other people’s lives.”

— from the Frontier of Freedom

San Francisco officials have been overwhelmed at City Hall as couples flood in from around the country to be married in the city by the bay.  >>> Love is everywhere this Valentine’s weekend! <<<  Factoid: On February 14, 1991 San Francisco became the first city to register same-sex domestic partners. 13 years later it becomes the first city to issue marriage licenses to lesbian and gays couples. (great photos in link) San Diegans rush to SF for wedding bells, too.

“We’re at capacity right now,” said Mabel Teng, the official who oversees marriage licenses for city government. “We normally do about 20-30 couples a day. We’re doing about 50-60 an hour.”
