“This
is probably one of poorest-run cities in the United States, and I
just feel like we need to turn that around. I think if our city could
get its house in order, then city government could run (Balboa) park
well.” — Hillcrest resident Jay Hyde one
of the founders of Preserve Our Parks

“The Mills Act represents 0.0007 percent
of property taxes. This is a very small price to pay for preserving and
protecting our historic homes.” — Mission Hills resident Allen

“It’s just like if a police officer came
to your door and asked you for your wallet, you’re going to ask them
why they’re doing it. Paying income tax is no different...they just
don’t like being asked why we have to pay.” — Tracy Corona (a tax rebel) who is now on house arrest
