Upsets, People Spill
The narrowest escape from serious accident to be recorded in this locality for years was at the corner of Fifth Street and University Avenue this morning when the Escondido stage overturned at the top of a steep grade. The twelve passengers in the coach were hurled down the side of the canyon into the underbrush, but other than a few bruises and scratches, none of them was hurt. The driver jumped from the overturning vehicle, but was able to secure control of the horses. The United States mail bag and some freight were found halfway down the side of the canyon. The grade is one of the steepest in the county, although it is rare that accidents happen there. It leads into the San Diego River Valley, leaving the city highway at the St. Joseph’s sanitarium.

Is the rain over?
Hillcrest has received about two inches of the needed wet stuff.
And it’s a beautifully sunny afternoon!
The White House finally found one guy
who says he remembers serving with President Bush on National Guard
duty in Alabama.
Isn’t that amazing? Now if they can find someone who
remember Bush working on an economic plan!
President Bush had a great time at the Daytona 500. He told
reporters, “I like speed.” And today he got a call from Rush Limbaugh:
“Hey, I like speed too! Can you get me some? Without a prescription?”
John Kerry won the primaries in Nevada and Washington, DC.
That’s
great.
One is a haven for hookers, gamblers and general lowlifes, and
the other is the home of Las Vegas!
It’s a great night and I’ll tell you why.
The entire balcony here
in the Ed Sullivan theater is full of guys who swear they were in the
National Guard with George Bush.
