“I find that the CCDC, and all the money that they have, are being greedy, and I think that these ballpark bonds should be paid for by the CCDC. Where they chose to put [the ballpark], it was all about redevelopment. Why is CCDC not picking up those bonds? It’s criminal.”

“You have to find a way to get this done. If you cannot, you will face a pretty big personal decision about whether you are able to stay in the job under those circumstances...If you are asked to deny this waiver, I fear the credibility of the agency that we both love will be irreparably damaged.”

“When San Diego’s mayor and City Council members can figure out how to fill potholes and clean up all the RVs, trailers and boats that line the streets then maybe they can ask for a raise. Until then, if they want more money, move to a city that pays more.”

Interim Height Ordinance moves ahead
The Interim Height Ordinance (IHO) will again be discussed at the Uptown Planners on Tuesday, March 4th at 6pm in the Joyce Beers Community Center. The Upas Street extension will be on the table. The Planning Commission will hear the issue on Thursday, March 6th.
The Planning Department is reconsidering extending the boundary of the mandatory height limitation south to Upas Street (instead of Brookes) and will present it as a option to the Planning Commission...who will make their recommendation to the City Council...who will make the final decision for our community.
>>> Hillcrest residents...please let Toni Atkins know your opinion on this ordinance. Same for those in Bankers Hill and Mission Hills, email Kevin Faulconer with your thoughts on neighborhood height.
Uptown Planners meetingThe current height limit is 200 feet in our neighborhood. The IHO would limit building height to 65 feet (up to six stories). While speaking to the Hillcrest Town Council at their February meeting, Mayor Sanders said he thought the 65-foot limit was a good compromise.
In the past week the IHO Task Force voted unanimously to support the extension of the mandatory height limitation south to Upas Street (they had previously accepted the Brookes Street boundary). The Hillcrest Town Council, which had already been on record supporting the Upas Street boundary, conducted an informal straw poll at the February 12th forum where approximately 110 people were in attendance — the vote in favor of the Upas Street boundary was one vote short of being unanimous.

“It was plain that they were in fact buying comfort, immunity from snow and slush, from piercing winds and sleet-clad streets, from sultry days and sleepless nights, from thunderstorms, cyclones, malaria, mosquitoes and bedbugs. All of which, in plain language, means that they were buying climate...”
