Penguins on the roof of Whole Foods Market on

Yooohooo...Want to suggest a title
for the August 6th movie on the roof?

Whole Foods Market and the Hillcrest History Guild will be presenting another summertime movie from the parking structure atop the popular market. Big thanks to Uptown Sunrise Rotary for underwriting the cost of the film this year. Now the question is....what would you like to see?

Email us your choices for a fun family movie for this evening under the stars. Then in a week or so, we’ll list the top titles in the poll in the lower left corner of our home page, and let you pick the winner. Sound like a plan?

Hillcrest Pinkberry location

After a year of patience...

Will Pinkberry finally be opening in Hillcrest?

There’s a little action going on behind the faded fence on the southeast corner of Fourth and Robinson as the former home of P.B. Home & Garden begins a new transformation into a location for LA’s most popular yogurt treat. But in the many months of delay, several other frozen yogurt shops have popped up around the neighborhood — including Freddo Dulce, the Golden Spoon, Tutti Frutti, Yog-art and Capri Yogurt to name a few. Which is your favorite?

Maple Canyon Clean-up, April 26, 2008

THANK YOU, friends!
Maple Canyon is so much better
Thanks to volunteers from “I Love a Clean San Diego” and Friends of Maple Canyon a dumpster full of trash was removed from this beautiful canyon two blocks west of Balboa Park just north and south of the Quince Street pedestrian bridge. The group cleaned out trash from several homeless encampments and chopped down invasive bamboo-like plants (arundo) from this Bankers Hill treasure.
Thank you soo much to everyone who pitched in and made a difference. The Maple Canyon is now safer as well as cleaner! Take a hike and check it out yourself. The trailhead is on Third Avenue a half block north of the Quince Street foot bridge.
