Help decide the future height of 92103
Need a ride to City Hall Tuesday, July 8th?This meeting is very important for our community. Developers, the SD Association of Realtors, Chamber of Commerce and Building Industry Association will be asking the City Council to vote against the IHO. If you live in the Uptown area and need a ride to/from the meeting, please make a reservation by noon on Wednesday, July 2. (Earlier the better, so we may arrange for the appropriate vehicles.)

Where will you pick me up? The location will be determined based on demand — reserve early.
What if I want to return early? A vehicle will be waiting for your return trip after 2:45pm.
What is the latest return time? Last vehicle will return 30 minutes after the City Council meeting.

The next regular meeting of the Hillcrest Town Council meeting will be held the same night (Tuesday, July 8) from 6:30-8pm at the Joyce Beers Community Center (near Trader Joe’s). Area restaurants are donating treats to share at this month’s Meet & Greet. (and hopefully, we will be celebrating the new Interim Height Ordinance for our neighborhood). Join in this fun Hillcrest social.

Hillcrest After-Pride
Clean Up & Fund Raiser
Join us the morning of Monday, July 21 for a post-Pride clean-up of University Avenue into the heart of Hillcrest. San Diego Pride will donate $10 per volunteer hour to the Hillcrest Town Council, this will be the first fund raiser for the new residents’ group. Please pitch in and help pick up the neighorhood for at least one hour. We will meet at 7am in front of the Egyptian (at the corner of Park & University) and will work our way west, sweeping and cleaning up litter along University Avenue. Look for the orange shirts and jump in anytime! Call (619) 379-3416 for information the day of the event.

The future height of 92103 depends on you!
For two+ years the Uptown Independent Task Force has worked to get an Interim Height Ordinance (IHO) for 92103. Next Tuesday, July 8 at 2pm the City Council will decide the future heights of Hillcrest and Mission Hills until the 20+ year-old community plan is updated. Their decision will be the final step to protect Hillcrest. Please attend or urge the City Council members to VOTE YES on this IHO for Uptown.

This year’s book features chapters on community pioneers and volunteers with a healthy dose of neighborhood history, local trivia, where to shop & eat, self-guided tours and fold-out maps. We’ll be celebrating the completion of HQ6 on Seventh Avenue (between Robinson & Pennsylvania) with the live music at the Hop in the ’Hood on Sunday, July 13th from 10am-5pm. The Flower Power Parade will begin at 12:30pm followed by City Deli cake served to one and all. Join the party.

In the first week that gay marriage was legal in California, over 6,300 marriage licenses were granted throughout the state — more than double in an average June week. With at least 1,450 licenses issued, Los Angeles exceeded all other counties, followed by San Diego, with 727, and San Francisco, with at least 709. Orange County, with 538 licenses, came in fourth.
