Sixth Avenue will be closed through the end of September

Sixth Avenue will now remain closed through September
It will now be at least October before this section of Sixth Avenue from Pennsylvania to Upas will reopen to car traffic as the city replaces a sewer. Neighbors who live along the busy thoroughfare are enjoying the solitude, even throwing street parties on the empty asphalt. Seems like a good time to work on the Mi Arbolito corner and give it back to the community.

“The taller buildings are overwhelming, and they overwhelm the feel of the community. Uptown is not downtown, and we don’t want it to be downtown.”

“Usually the public-urination thing is a male thing, but I was near the area over the weekend and it was both sexes. This place is getting exempted all the time. Maybe it has something to do with the important local dignitaries that were there on opening night.”
