The word on the street is that Book Market (with table after table of cheap books) is moving into the old Wherehouse location at the corner of Vermont and University in the Uptown District beginning tomorrow. Their “corporate plan” is to unload as much reading material in the next three months as possible before moving on to another urban area.

We wish them luck, but encourage our readers to continue supporting the many local booksellers in the neighborhood.
These are the people that serve the HBA year after year. Shop locally, think globally.

Support Bluestocking Books, Fifth Avenue Bookstore and Bountiful Books all between Robinson and University.

Good-bye, Uncle Smiley. We’ll miss you!!
Adi, Joy, Michael and Christina at the Abbey Cafe.
Michael Blackwell,
a wonderful friend and the great guy who also came up with the clever name of “HillQuest” for our urban guide to 92103+, is moving on up the ladder at Roache Pharmaceutical and relocating east. This sweet, handsome man will be missed by most of Hillcrest’s medical community. Michael, you’re the best. Break a leg in the Big Apple!

St. Tropez Bakery and Bistro has opened location #3 (Gaslamp & Encinitas being their sister locations) at the former site of Mister Sisters, Tofu House, the Fish Hut, colorful Rocket Wraps and healthy Dr. Dailey’s. No one seems to have the fortitude of the Chicken Pie Shop, 62 years. Best of luck to owners, Didier & Christine Pellerud. The word on the street is —“You have a winner!

Hillcrest’s own Priority Pharmacy was among the honorees during the recent Combined Health Agencies’ Tenth Annual Health Hero Awards Reception. They were nominated by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) for their leadership in the chapter’s education, outreach efforts, support programs and participation in the Annual Hot Pepper Run. The Combined Health Agency’s mission is to improve the community by supporting member agencies through individual and corporate giving. “Priority Pharmacy’s creative vision and commitment of the Foundation are keys to the success of CCFA local chapter events,” said Pamela Meistrell, executive director of the local chapter of CCFA. “Their dedicated involvement with numerous committees continues to help the Foundation raise money and awareness of this disease.”
“We’re honored by this prestigious award,” said Priority Pharmacy’s Monique DeChaine. “We look forward to continuing to help CCFA’s mission and supporting programs that empower San Diegans living with Crohn’s and Colitis.”
