Ratatouille

How about some Rat-a-too-ee?

Wednesday, August 5 at dusk — Join the fun for the 3rd annual Movie on the Roof of Whole Foods Market (University & 7th) as Hillcrest’s Whole Foods Market converts their rooftop parking lot into an outdoor theatre for a showing of the animated movie Ratatouille. The Oscar winning film depicts a culinarily gifted mouse who guides a human to become a successful chef. The “Movie on the Roof” series is sponsored by Whole Foods Market and the Hillcrest History Guild. Families and friends are invited to this free community event under the Hillcrest stars — it’s almost like a drive in. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided, and the store’s catering department will offer ratatouille samples and meals for purchase. With no seating provided, moviegoers are encouraged to bring folding chairs and/or blankets to the twilight screening set to begin at approximately 8pm. For more details call the Hillcrest History Guild at (619) 260-1929.

“I am so surprised that San Diego County is still granting permits to put in new pools. Why is that still going on? Why are we advised to limit usage of our sprinklers to three days a week and shorten our showers while so many homeowners with pools are responsible for consuming/wasting 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per year?”

“In the seven years since Diann Shipione blew the whistle on the underfunding of San Diego’s public employee pension system, City Hall has been marked by periods of indifference and belittlement of our mounting fiscal woes.”

“We have room for improvement. Take shorter showers, don't leave the water running while brushing our teeth, prepping food or doing dishes, water the potted plants less often and for shorter durations. Try to keep the water in the pool not all over the patio when we're swimming and playing fetch with the dog.”
— City Councilwoman Marti Emerald whose water consumption has gone up 22%

“Clearly when the law was passed the cover was cancer, glaucoma — real distinct health issues. We're not there anymore. Quite frankly, I might benefit from a card. This is a high-stress job. It would probably do me good to go home and smoke some pot in the evening.”
— Mendocino County district attorney Meredith Lintott re: the US pot capital
