Every time they do it, Hillcrest sparkles. They really pay attention to detail as far as getting the weeds out of the sidewalks and gutters and things that normal cleaning services don’t do. They do such a great job for the neighborhood.”

Hillcrest Clean TEAM, November 1, 2009

Thanks for cleaning up Hillcrest

The Hillcrest Clean TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) spruced up the neighborhood with a volunteer effort along University Avenue and the side streets east of 163 yesterday morning to pick up all the leftover costumes, fliers, cans, bottles and Halloween candy wrappers.

Many thanks to Bob, Tim, Nancy, Luke, Lee, Norman, Dan, Nick, Cathy, Grace, Kari, Jodi, Susan, Suanne and Ann for your volunteers effort on a beautiful fall day. Clean-ups are held at least once a quarter. Neighborhood Improvement Committee (NIC) meetings are held twice a month at Bamboo Lounge.

Jodi Herman, Susan Fosselman and Suanne Pauley volunteering with the Hillcrest Clean TEAM on Sunday, November 1, 2009Kudos also to Councilman Todd Gloria’s office that arranged for a dumpster (located on Normal Street just north of University) for residential use throughout the day. Hillcrest neighbors are welcome to discard of trash and household items, but no electronics, oil, paint. Check out the City of San Diego’s website for restrictions.

The Clean TEAM is part of the Hillcrest Town Council, the residential group that meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Joyce Beers Community Center in the Uptown District from 6:30-8pm. The November 10th meeting will feature guest speaker Todd Gloria. Please come and bring any questions or concerns about the City of San Diego and our neighborhood.

It’s a real shame. (Old Town’s Serra Museum, now closed by the City of San Diego) is one of the most important spots in the country. Certainly the most important on the West Coast.”
