Lots of stuff was going on around the neighborhood including an Indian Culture Pow Wow at Park Bouleveard and Presidents Way and two health fairs — one north of the War Memorial building (across from Roosevelt Junior High) and another at the GLBT Center. Many Hillcresters enjoyed getting outside, even if it meant yardwork as spring continues to bloom everywhere.

Food, fun and performance art abound this weekend. Toss in a free massage, and you’ll know why this is America’s Finest City. Ollie Ott, the owner of Slender Lady, smiled for HillQuest with buddy Tami who was working the booth for Brothers Warren Wellness Center where Dr. Jay shared his healing knowledge. Back on Robinson Roli even helped his dad with the gardening.

And the beat goes on...
Two small homes on First Avenue between University and Robinson will soon be nothing more than memories as the construction boom continues in Hillcrest. The moving trucks will arrive next winter for the twenty-five happy owners of luxury condos that will take their place.

Our skyline will be quite
different soon with a half
dozen projects underway.

Business Spotlight on...
EPHESUS A full-service salon and day spa

Need a break from urban living? Occasionally we all need a quiet oasis from the chaos of everyday life. Hillcrest is fortunate to have the perfect escape to slip into. Ephesus (just three and half blocks east of the Hillcrest sign) is the creation of Elizabeth Rogers-Pinedo. The two-story day spa features a warm environment  meant to calm all the senses. The natural light and a flowing tented ceiling take one away from the stress of the outside world into a place of peace and tranquility. Indulge yourself with a massage, facial, hair and nail treatments, waxing or an ultimate day of beauty including lunch. Packages for nuptials and special occasions are also available for those you love. Come. Be pampered. You deserve it. We’re located across from the Florence Elementary School playground at 127 West University Avenue.

Father Tony Noble has informed us of the new principal at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School who will be filling the shoes of Carol Phillips. Bruce Givens will begin his duties at the end of June. But starting today he’ll be visiting the students, teachers and parents while acclimating to San Diego.

Givens is a former professor with more than two decades of experience in educational administration, supervision and teaching. He has conducted lectures, seminars and workshops throughout the nation and has received a variety of recommendations.

Welcome, Mr. Givens!

Have you noticed the purple jacaranda trees blooming around the neighborhood?
(of course you have!)

For those of you without noses, they smell GREAT.

Can you see where the car was parked?
This is so much better than snow!!!
