It’s a great day for a cup of tea,

and you’ll have over 300 choices!

Alex Marin owner of Exotic Bamboo Tea House (1475 University Avenue) was featured live on Monday’s FOX 6 with Ruben Galvan... Marc and Desiree enjoyed the tea at the studio, too.

What a storm! A mini-hurricane blew through Hillcrest Sunday morning just before 7am...lightening struck the (above left) palm tree in front of Jamba Juice, and several trees in Balboa Park were blown over. Power lines were down between Sixth and Seventh while the ramp to 163 north of Sixth Avenue was closed for most of the day with a fallen pole. About eleven hundred residents were without electricity (and the Charger win!) until after 4pm!

At Bountiful Books in Hillcrest, owner Rhea Kuhlman shook her head and looked exasperated
when asked about the mayoral controversy.
Typical of San Diego, isn’t it?” she said.
“They portrayed me as an environmental wacko, and they just laughed at me. It really is a new day in San Diego.
The public is going to take back their city. That’s what they have to get over. It doesn’t belong to them. It belongs to the people.
They need to get over themselves.”

Gay marriage is a family value.

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the death of Audre Lorde,
the legendary activist-writer whose poetry tackled issues such
as race, gender, power dynamics in relationships, eroticism,
 sexism and homophobia/heterosexism.
