| Friday, November 14 | We had rain on Wednesday. Unfortunately, drivers had to relearn lessons like “wet streets=slick streets.” Historic State Highway 163 south through Balboa Park was jammed to a walking pace for the morning commute. And this was with less than a quarter inch of rain! Imagine what we might do with 18 inches of hail (like Watts). |

“I remember that quote as if it was yesterday... at the time, the only tenants at Village Hillcrest were Landmark, Starbucks and Monsoon (now Bombay). I felt like we were a cruise ship anchored off the coast of Hillcrest.” Thanks for the memories, Annie.

History in the making(remodeling to be exact)Peek through the gates (or click on the photo) and watch this Victorian beauty transform over the next few weeks. The home is located on the corner of Laurel Street and First Avenue. Thank you again, HH, for bringing your daddy’s roller bearing fortune to town (allowing your daughter’s husband to fund our art museum and Henry Putnam’s two nieces to leave a San Diego legacy in your name). |

Firefighters were unable to save this shingled home in Mission Hills yesterday morning. Fortunately, the fire caused no injuries as their daughter quickly rescued the family pets from the burning structure. A 911 call was delayed for lack of cell phone coverage in the neighborhood.
