Jacarandas in San Diego

With Memorial Day is approaching, the city has turned purple again with jacaranda trees lining many streets throughout San Diego.

Although the vast majority of our jacarandas are purple, there’s an orange one somewhere in Sherman Heights, according to Drew Potocki, the city's urban forester. Let’s get a photo!!

Red-Boy by Robert AllenRed-Boy by Robert Allen >

Talmadge artist Robert Allen has an esoteric exhibit of his prints “Giclee on Canvas” currently on display at Mission Hills Bistro, 228 W. Washington Street. This new Italian restaurant well-known for their fabulous Venetian murals is also the venue for Allen’s abstract 8.5x11 creations. Red-Boy has been donated to a silent auction benefiting the Polinsky Children Center. Half of all proceeds from further print sales of this work will also be funneled directly to these children in need. Stop by the local eatery and enjoy a little art with your next cracker crust pizza!
