Although a home is an almost
sacred place of life, love, family and friends, it is now crystal clear
to me where the heart really lies. It is very ironic because at one time, I used
to feel unprivileged to live in such a privileged town. I now find
myself extremely lucky to live in a town that wasn’t so lucky.

Deputy Mayor Toni Atkins in
response to Don Stillwell, a frequent speaker at council meetings,
criticizing her appointment (by colleagues on the recommendation of
Mayor Dick Murphy). Murphy and several councilmembers defended their
choice, with Inzunza adding that Stillwell’s objection was “sick” and
“hurtful.”
“This really is a good day for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community,” said Atkins, who is a lesbian. |
