Letter to the Editor from today’s San Diego Union-Tribune

Recently I attended a beautiful matrimonial ceremony between two people who have been together for nearly four years. It was a memorable celebration of the couple’s vows of lifelong love and commitment. The couple are gay, both of them men. Why should that matter? In this current world of strife and turmoil, we should welcome any celebration of togetherness.

Exactly how do gay marriages wreck the sanctity of traditional marriage? I don't understand how anyone can deny another person the right to partner with the one that he or she loves, and the opportunity to share his or her burdens. Heterosexuals never have been denied this right. Why should gays be? Are gays not people, too?

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
Opens at the Uptown District

Chocolates, candy apples and fudge freshly made right in their window, and just in time for Christmas. For what more could one ask?

Oh, it’s conveniently located next to Curves for Women, home of the 30-minute workout.

The Hillcrest Business Association held its last board meeting of 2003 and approved the budget for 2004, presented a plaque to outgoing president Steven Alix, approved an ad in HillQuest volume 2, discussed the proposed stoplight on University at Normal Street and heard government reps discuss more cuts statewide following Governor Schwarzenegger’s repeal of the car tax increase.

SANDAG’s Miriam Krishner did not appear to give her presentation on the “Traffic First Project.”

December’s Cold Moon over Hillcrest

Indians of the northern and eastern North America kept track of the seasons
by giving a distinctive name to each recurring full moon, this name being applied to the entire month. With some variations, the same moon names were used throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior.
