Big Bay Balloon Parade this morning

Head on down to the embarcadero Thursday morning for the 17th annual Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade. This year’s theme is “Groovin’ to the 70s” and spectators and participants alike will be dancin’ and jivin’ to the festivities. With over 100,000 street-side spectators parking a car will be a nightmare. 92103 residents may want to consider riding a bike or leave the four wheels in Old Town, and jump on the trolley for a short ride to the middle of the action in Little Italy.

As always, this exciting family event brings together world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, entertaining drill teams, the 12th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals (the dachshund race will be held 9:30am), followed by the Bumble Bee Foods 5K run…then the procession of enormous balloons kicks off at 10am! Get there early and watch the setup!
— unfortunately…six of the 25 big balloons didn’t have any helium
