Candlelight Vigil for Peace

Hundreds of activists joined San Diego County peace groups in Balboa Park from 4-9pm last night for a candlelight vigil to memorialize the 3,002 military deaths in Iraq. Veterans For Peace lit 30 crosses for each of the one hundred troops killed as the names of the dead were read aloud. December was the deadliest month of 2006 for our service members. In addition 16,273 Iraqi civilians, soldiers and police died violent deaths in the past year. It’s time to bring our troops home and use thewar money for other issues.
