EarthFair in Balboa Park was so much fun

Looking east across the Cabrillo Bridge into Balboa Park’s 2011 EarthFairGreat weather yesterday drew thousands of people to Balboa Park for the 22nd annual EarthFair including 100s of booths, music, a parade and tens of thousands to celebrate Earth Day (on Friday, April 22 this year). As in past years, the popular event to help the environment was produced by volunteers!

San Diego EarthWorks got its start in 1989 as the SD Earth Day Coalition. With the pending 20th anniversary of Earth Day in 1990, a number of local environmental organizations decided to sponsor some events. It was the largest event that had ever been held in the park, and it was mirrored by enormously successful events all over the United States and continues today. 2010’s EarthFair drew nearly 70,000 to Balboa Park.
