Congresswoman Susan Davis with two servicemembers and DADT

Repealing “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” Wed @ The Center

An insider’s view from Capitol Hill

Hear Congresswoman Susan Davis’ first-hand account of how this historic achievement in our nation’s history was realized. In addition, Michael Magee, Board Co-Chair of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network will discuss the implementation of the policy’s repeal.

As then-Chairwoman of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, San Diego’s own Congresswoman Davis played a key role in enacting the legislation that lifted the ban on gays and lesbians serving openly. She was an original cosponsor of the bill to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, held the first (of several) congressional hearing on the policy 15 years after its inception and helped lead the floor debate when the issue finally passed the House of Representatives. This evening from 5:30-6:30pm at The Center, 3909 Centre.
