Al and TipperLetter to the Editor from today’s San Diego Union-Tribune

Recently I attended a beautiful matrimonial ceremony between two people who have been together for nearly four years. It was a memorable celebration of the couple’s vows of lifelong love and commitment. The couple are gay, both of them men. Why should that matter? In this current world of strife and turmoil, we should welcome any celebration of togetherness.

Exactly how do gay marriages wreck the sanctity of traditional marriage? I don’t understand how anyone can deny another person the right to partner with the one that he or she loves, and the opportunity to share his or her burdens. Heterosexuals never have been denied this right. Why should gays be? Are gays not people, too?

You did the right thing, Al.
