“All around the world women stand in silent vigil, wearing black, as a symbol of mourning for the ravages of war.”

On the eve of the one-year anniversary of the Iraqi invasion women dressed in black held a candlelight vigil at dusk in front of the warship aircraft carrier USS Midway in downtown San Diego. Each of the luminaria candles was lit in memory of 250 lives lost in the past year of fighting in Iraq. Most were women. 40 brown sacks remembered the lives of 10,000 Iraqis. Two small bags were lit in memory of the nearly 500 Americans who have lost their lives in the war based on lies.
