Avid organ enthusiast John D. Spreckels and his brother Adolph gave this grand instrument and the elegant pavilion that surrounds her to our city in 1915. The nation’s first outside organ celebrated her 90th birthday today with a five-hour concert in Balboa Park for thousands of happy fans who enjoyed a multitude of performers, tours of her pipes…and free birthday cake on a beautiful New Year’s Day afternoon.
