It’s official: gay couples can marry next week

And we celebrated in Hillcrest
Pixie, Mike, Richard and friends celebrating at the Toast to Hillcrest, Thursday, August 12, 2010What fun!! Thank you, revelers, for raising a jubilant glass to our favorite neighborhood. The Toast to Hillcrest filled the streets yesterday evening as happy folks enjoyed samples from 34 of our neighborhood’s best bars, bistros, restaurants and wine bars — both old favorites and brand new eateries! Everardo commented, “I’ve lived in San Diego for 24 years and this is the most fun I’ve ever had in Hillcrest! Re-discovering favorite haunts I hadn’t visited in a while along with finding lots of new places that I am sure to visit again!”

Hundreds of festive participants joined in the fun with many groups strategizing the most advantageous walking route — while others jumped on the double-decker bus with Benny Cartwright & Ricky Mike pouring a Hypnotic Cosmo on the back patio of Number One Fifth Avenue for the 2010 Toast to HillcrestCervantes. Thanks to each of the businesses that offered up their best to support the Hillcrest History Guild. The HHG appreciates everyone’s participation in the event. Decor with Distinction and Apple Spice Catering passed out fresh chocolate chip cookies as toasters checked in at 5th & Robinson….and throughout the Toast to Hillcrest revelers, August 12, 2010 -- Hillcrest, San Diego, Californiaevening on the open air roof of the bus (donated by HillQuest, the Urban Guide).

Did you take any fun photos? Please send them our way. And mark your calendars for next year’s party — it’s gonna be even better. (We’ll have a few added surprises!) The fifth annual Toast will again be held on the Thursday after CityFest. See you then!
