James Hartline responds to HillQuest’s July 9th top quote…

“We’re here to inform parents, to warn them about what’s happening inside (the ballpark). Bringing together homosexuals with baseball and kids is beyond bounds. We’re trying to get people to turn around, not go to the game, and we’re succeeding.”

— Self-described Christian activist James Hartline who directed the protest (fyi: it was a near sell-out)

Normally, I don’t have the time to respond to everything that the press writes about me. However, you have placed a false comment on your website that is not an accurate statement from me. I have ordered Scott LaFee of the Union Tribune to retract the quote from his article as it is highly inaccurate. I did not state the words in the U.T. that he wrote me saying. He was one of at least eight interviews that I granted reporters. And I gave them all the exact same statments and Mr. LaFee is the only one that inaccurately quoted me. He was very quickly writing down what I was saying and clearly and incorrectly transcribed my statements. I specifically stated that our problem was the Gay Pride organization and its history of hiring registered sex offenders, pedophiles and promoting pornography, that is what should not be allowed inside of Petco Park around kids. Everything else was misquoted and miswritten by LaFee of the U.T.

Sincerely, James Hartline
