One hundred years ago today William Wesley Whitson open an on-site location (that’s it on the left) for his real estate office just north of University on Fifth Avenue in what was then called University Heights. Note the dirt streets. The sign on top said “Hillcrest Tract Office” and folks began calling this part of San Diego “Hillcrest.” The rest is history.
