University Heights History Presentation Evolution of the US Flag

The University Heights Historical Society presents Evolution of the US Flag at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 3993 Park Boulevard. Educator Shirley Harms will present a brief history of the United States flag, starting with the 13th century British Cross of St. George, to the 50-star flag of 1959. She will also explain the historical significance of the often controversial Don’t Tread on Me flag. The presentation will feature full-size replicas of eleven flags to illustrate many of the steps in the flag’s evolution. Admission is and parking are free. Please enter the church through the back gate and proceed up the stairs to the Fellowship Hall.

  • 3:00pm — North Park Farmers Market
    The North Park Farmers Market is open every Thursday until sunset. Visitors can browse from a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, nuts, flowers and other items. The farmers market is a great place to stock up on low priced, fresh items for the upcoming week. Also, a number of promotional booths are available to provide information about local businesses and services. Musicians are usually on hand to entertain shoppers. The North Park Farmers Market is located in the south parking lot of CVS Pharmacy at the corner of North Park Way at Herman Avenue.

    The Being Alive Learning Center will be hosting the Sex and Relationships in Sobriety learning series, is held every Thursday night. This is a meeting of Crystal Meth Anonymous. The series focuses on learning to balance a healthy sex and relationship life while dealing with the hardships of sobriety.
