Giant DipperIn 1925 the Mission Beach Amusement Center built by John D. Spreckels was dedicated. Featured the Plunge (a saltwater swimming pool), a fun house, a roller rink, a dance hall, a midway and the Giant Dipper roller coaster which opened a few weeks later on July 4th — (very still kewl..and SD’s best ride.) Take a trip for five bucks (or wait until Tuesdays from 4pm until closing to take advantage of $1 trips!) Learn more about historic Belmont Park.

Tom Bradley was elected the first black mayor of Los Angeles.
