Bankers Hill resident creates blog for neighborhood

Community members are urging the City of San Diego to consider a beautification plan for their uptown neighborhood.

The grassroots neighborhood organization, Bankers Hill Residents Group voted at a public meeting Monday evening to forward on to the city a streetscape design that would give the community a facelift. “The purpose of [the plan] was to create a sense of place for the neighborhood which would include signage, landscaping, bus shelters, ” said Nancy Moors, a Bankers Hill resident and co-founder of HillQuest.com.

The plan draws influence from the neighborhood’s history and architecture, featuring neighborhood entrance markers inspired by the California Tower in Balboa Park, and proposes bus shelters be turned into public art. It also created standard styles of lamp posts, trash cans and bike racks, said Glen Schmidt of Schmidt Group, Inc., who helped develop the plan and presented it at the meeting.
