Cabrillo Bridge fire

At 4:34am Thursday, a fire was reported at the Laurel Street Bridge in Balboa Park, which connects Sixth Avenue to the center of the park over Highway 163. It has been established that the arson fire started near the base of one of the columns. All but the north sidewalk reopened on Friday afternoon.

Factoid  The sidewalk on the bridge registered a temperature of 250˚ at one point. Under the bridge, the temp was more than 1,000 degrees!
