Hillcrest Farmers Market every Sunday from 9am-2pm

Hillcrest Farmers Market -- every Sunday from 9-2 on Normal Street north of University AvenueToday’s a fun day! Head on over to the Hillcrest DMV (on Normal Street south of Lincoln Avenue) for the Hillcrest Farmers Market, which has been voted San Diego’s favorite year after year. Shop for fresh produce, colorful 7th Day Buskers at the Hillcrest Farmers Marketflowers, crafts, food and toe-tapping tunes from Shawn P. Rohlf and the 7th Day Buskers. A great way to begin is by to stopping at Divine Madman Coffee for a cup of joe from the ladies.

With an assortment of tasty eats from around the world, sometimes it’s difficult to make a choice. Have you tried the coconut pancakes from Saranya & the Black Thai? Get a handful of these unique treats for only $1. This is also where to find nutty flavored red rice with wonderful curries. Visit the Argentinean Gourmet for a variety of empandas — my favorite is the ricotta cheese with raisins..and for a special treat, try one of Seb’s fabulous pannis. Need a new HillQuest, Urban Guide? Stop by and say hi to Mike in the Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) booth just north of the band where you may also pick up a “Fabulous Hillcrest” button. Please leave Bowser at home (unless he’s a service dog). The Hilcrest Farmers Market is also a great place to find unique gifts.

It’s the peak of the summer produce so don’t miss the fresh peaches, nectarines, sweet corn, tomatoes and more from R&L Farms, Lone Oak Ranch, Seacoast Farms, Smit Orchard and Kawanos Farms for the best in berries. As a bonus, half of the market’s proceeds benefit community activities through the HBA.
