San Diego Pride kicked off Pride weekend Friday night at the festival grounds located at Balboa Drive and Juniper Street. San Diego City Council President Tony Young and Council Member Marti Emerald attended the backstage celebration prior to the rally. Grand Marshals Meredith Baxter, Chris Shaw and political activist Daniel Hernandez joined the festivities to kick off LGBT Pride weekend. The parade steps off at the corner Normal & University at 11am Saturday. The festival will follow at Marston Point in Balboa Park on Saturday and Sunday.
