SD Floral Parades throughout history….

July 20, 1911 — Floral Parade in the park: “This feature is to be under the direction of the Women’s Auxiliary. It will be the first opportunity the public will have to view the queen of the carnival in her royal robes. Miss Richards, as queen will be surrounded by eight maids of honor. More than 100 automobiles and other vehicles, each decorated in real flowers, will compose this parade.” [LATimes]
May 15, 1915 — Festival of Flowers at San Diego Fair: “There was a miniature rose parade formed of the little electriquettes, all flower-trimmed, girls with flower-trimmed doll carriages, and of go-carts with babies. The first prize was taken by the entry of the Southern California Building. It was an electriquette exquisitely trimmed with hundreds of Cecile Brunner roses and ferns from the Model Farm of the Southern Counties exhibit.” LATimes [5/16/1915]
July 9, 2006 — Flower Power Parade at the Hop in the ’Hood: HillQuest organizes a mini-rose bowl parade as one of the highlights for their annual July block party…and the Floral Association takes first place in a crowded competition of floats decorated with at least 50% flowers or plants.
