“‘When a jackrabbit gets addicted to road running, it is only a matter of time before he gets smashed’ and when a journalist turns into a politics junkie
he will sooner or later start raving and babbling in print about things
that only a person who has Been There can possibly understand.”

— Hunter S. Thompson from Fear and
Loathing on the Campaign Trail ’72.

In a rare moment of nostalgia, the author once reflected on the
1960s (the era that had formed him as a writer) as a time when
“we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.”

Gone, but you can still get his books at Fifth Avenue Books!
Hunter’s widow heard the “clicking of the gun” over the phone.
“He lived a beautiful life and he lived it on his own terms,
all the way from the very beginning to the very end.”
