What was the lowest point in SD’s history? Could it be in 1921 when Mayor Louis J. Wilde was driven from office under a cloud of scandal. Even the Prince of Wales couldn’t rescue him. Or how about Mayor Roger Hedgecock?
The Quince Street Bridge, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, is a white wooden trestle that crosses Maple Canyon just west of Fourth Avenue in Park West. The design was popular in railroad construction in 1905.
The original builders spent $805 to put it up, would be aghast to hear that a renovation in 1990 cost $250,000.
