Erosion under the Cabrillo BridgeThe bridle path along the west side of 163 through Balboa Park has suffered a lot of erosion during this winter’s storms.

The southbound lanes of the historical highway which runs along the trail was shut down on Sunday while Caltrans crews removed 15 trees, repaired potholes, guardrails and hauled off debris. New sycamore trees and a different species of oak will be planted this summer through the fall. The goal is to keep the route beautiful, but safe.
