Ribbon Cutting for West Arcade, Balboa Park, November 30, 2005Balboa Park’s Committee of 100 which is “Dedicated to the Preservation of Spanish Colonial Architecture in Balboa Park” held a >dedication ceremony today for the West Arcade Reconstruction along El Prado. The originalarcade was part of the Science and Education Building, one of the many wonderful structures built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. It was destroyed in the 1960s.

Participating in Wednesday morning’s ribbon cutting were: Ted Medina, Director of Park & Rec; Ellen Oppenheim, Deputy City Manager; State Senator Christine Kehoe; Pat DeMarce, President of Commitee of 100; Deputy Mayor Toni Atkins and Mayor-elect Jerry Sanders. Enjoy a stroll through this magnificent addition to the heart of the park during this weekend’s December Nights.
