Charles Hatfield was a real rainman


The city of San Diego hired Hatfield to make it rain but never paid him because it rained too much. Hatfield sued the city in a case that lasted until 1938, when a court declared the 1916 flood was an act of God – not of Hatfield nor of the four-member council majority that hired him.
